Rotary Foundation
From Pearl Smith, Virginia Beach Rotary Club
The global reach of Rotary International and how we as Rotarians contribute to lives in our local community and in communities around the world is phenominal. Without the Rotary Foundation, RI would not be able to establish such wonderful programs as the eradication of polio, the ambassadorial scholarship programs, and humanitarian and health programs just to name a few. The Rotary Foundation is what sets Rotary and YOU apart from all other service organizations.
President Rourk has committed us to a goal of $7,000 contributed to the Rotary Foundation for the 2009-10 year. Essentially, this amounts to a $100 donation by each Virginia Beach Rotarian to the Rotary Foundation. "Every Rotarian Every Year" is the RI campaign/slogan calling on each and every Rotarian to donate $100 per year to continue the unprecedented good deeds of RI.
All monies that you donate to the Rotary Foundation count toward your Paul Harris Fellowships. Once you reach a cumulative donation of $1,000 you are awarded your first Paul Harris Fellow pin. For each additional cumulative donation of $1,000 you receive additional Paul Harris Fellowship pins.
Your donations are also tax deductible.
Log onto www.rotary.org and click on the tab for “Rotary Foundation” to learn more about the Foundation. You can donate to the Foundation directly from the website or bring a check made payable to “The Rotary Foundation” and give it to me, President Stuart or Barbara VanDeman.
My challenge to you is to step up and “Lead the Way” by making your annual $100 donation to the Rotary Foundation. We need your help to reach our goal.
